Oh the things they say...

Sarah has started to do something that Britten never did. Maybe because Britten didn't have anyone else to blame besides himself or maybe because he is a boy, I am not sure. But here are some of the things Sarah has been saying lately:

Two mornings ago Sarah came into my room and I noticed she had changed her pajamas so she informed me, "Mom, a monster wet my bed!"

A day before that she was sitting on our over sized chair and brought to my attention a gross rigging on it. When I asked her if she did it she said very casually, "NO, it was baby Ian."

We have been having a few flies bugging us around the house. Britten said that we needed a "fly swapper" and Sarah said, "or we could just get a frog."

They crack me up! I love how their little minds work in this big world!

Sundays Post!

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

I know who I am. I know God's Plan. I'll follow him in Faith.

I believe in the Savior, Jesus Christ. I'll honor his name.

I'll do what is right. I'll follow his light. His truth I will proclaim.

I am going to try something new on my blog. Above are the words to a children's primary song titled I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. That is a mouthful right? After listening to Women's Conference I decided I need to make more time to increase my spirituality. Sure we read scriptures most nights as a family and say a family prayer but I don't make the time to think about my Savior on my own. Here is a little background on how I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

My grandmother was living in Port Hope Ontario, Canada when two young men came knocking on her door. They were missionaries. My Grandma invited them in and loved the message that they had to share. She decided to get baptized into the church and was one of the first members in her area. My grandpa Gordon was a business man in town and did not think it was a good idea for him to be baptized but he supported my grandma and his kids. My grandpa passed away shortly after that from a heart attack and my grandma moved my mom and her brother to California to be around more members of the church. My mom grew up, met my dad - dated him a while and they got married. My dad is not a member of the church and my mom was not the type to go to church every Sunday but as a kid I went to church and learned a lot about the Gospel through the children's program. As I got older it seemed more like a chore to go to church. Then when I was in high school I met the cutest boy who was LDS (latter day saint or Mormon). I was not in love but maybe wanting to marry him when I got older... That was a turning point for me for some reason. I saw this great guy and thought to myself, I want to be a great girl so one day I can snag a great guy like him. That for me is where my testimony began to grow. I was a junior in high school and stopped some of the bad habits I had begun and started going to church activities, reading my scriptures and making new friends that shared the same standards as the gospel. I went to Rick's College in Rexburg, Idaho which was a church school and my testimony grew exponentially there. Skipping ahead in life... I now am married to Jeff and have 3 amazing kids and love my membership in the church. My testimony is so much of who I am. I don't know what I would do without it in my life. I know my Savior Jesus Christ! I have felt his arms around me in my life. I have felt him cry with me, laugh at me and smile with me. I want to make him proud of me. So, there it is, I have started a new tradition for myself. Maybe every week or two I am going to try and share a portion of my testimony with my family and friends through my blog called Sundays posts!

Ian James is 4 months old!

Here he is 1 day old! Here you are 4 days old!
Here you are almost 4 months old!
I must like it when you are sleeping because I take a lot of pictures of you that way! Maybe because my hands are free and you look so peaceful!

Where does the time go? I took Ian in for his 4 month check up on Thursday the 25th and he's doing pretty good!! He is weighing in at 15 lbs 5oz and 25.5 inches long. I love how chubby he is starting to get! For the most part, Ian is a good baby! The past two nights he has decided not to wake up every two hours - maybe he is realizing I am a much happier mommy if he is not up so much. It is fun to see his personality coming to life. He loves to talk to me when I give him my undivided attention and he loves to watch his brother and sister. He laughs at Sarah when she dances for him. I know it has only been 4 months but I don't know what I would do without him. I love him so much!

It was pretty foggy but there is a huge rock out behind the kids that we drove out too. Britten loved it!

We had lunch at the Flying Dutchman and it was yummy! Clam chowder and fish tacos. The kids loved the pirate guarding the restaurant.

All about Britten!

My baby boy has started Kindergarten. His first day was August 25th and he was so excited! I had always planned on driving him to and from school but come to find out he really wanted to ride the bus. I thought I would drive him on the first day too but he really, really wanted to ride the bus! The great thing about the bus is that our cute neighbors Addy and Jake ride the bus too. Britten and Addy both started Kindergarten this year and are enjoying sitting next to each other on the bus! I really wanted it to be a special day for Britten and so I made a few signs and hung them around the house. In the morning he found each one and wanted to know what they said. This was the breakfast of his choice, Cinnamon rolls, chocolate milk and a banana!
Here he is getting ready to catch the bus!
Addy and Britten waiting for the bus. Aren't they the cutest??
Watch your step!! Bye!! I totally started to cry as the bus drove away...
Where have the past 5 years gone?? I keep asking myself and realize they have gone so quickly but have left many great moments and memories in their place. Every night I tuck my kids into bed and spend some time singing and talking and snuggling with them. Before they fall asleep and I leave, I say, "sweet dreams little prince/princes" and Britten told me I now had to say, "sweet dreams BIG prince"! Well, good luck to you BIG prince as you start this new journey in your life! We LOVE you!!

Britten FUNNIES!

Britten put on his red undies, his red pj's and a red t-shirt and came into my room and said, "hey mom, I'm a RED neck".

Jeff was having a conversation with Britten about how he and I are his protectors. Britten said, "yeah, you have your guns to protect me, but what does Mom have? Oh well, she has her blow dryer". (apparently he thinks this is a weapon!)

He was getting his Kindergarten assessment and his teacher said, "Say what I say... I have a BLACK dog". Britten thought for a minute and said, "I have a BROWN dog". It was pretty funny!

Texas TIMES

We spent so much of our time swimming in Grandma and Jimini's pool! It is one of our favorite things to do in the summer time. This day two of my great friends came over with their kids. Kim Parker and Stacy Kirkham. I love these pics of all the kids in the pool and eating cantaloupe.

This is Stacy's daughter Sydney! She and Britten have played together since they were babies. We did a preschool group for them when they were 2 1/2. They play so well together and have even had a few good wrestling matches in their day... I overheard Sydney telling Britten she was his girlfriend and they could get married when they get bigger. It was so cute!
Happy Birthday Jimini!!! It was so fun to be in Texas for my Dad's birthday! We went to my brother's house for a dinner celebration. It was lots of fun! Here is my dad with Britten, Ian, Lilly, Sarah and Caroline!
The Boys...
The girls...
I was so spoiled this time with girls night outs!! I went to the best Mexican restaurant with my good friends Lisa and Wendi! It was so fun to catch up with them. We used to all work for a company called HealthHelp and have stayed friends through the years. I guess it has been 8 years since we worked there. How time flies.
Lilly and Ian
Swimming in Uncle Bill's pool!
Caroline!
Lilly was such a fun cousin for Britten and Sarah to play with. She is going to be a good little baby sitter.

It was such a fun few weeks! We also swam with friends from my old ward. Jenn, Melissa and Julie. We went to the fun malls, chuckie cheese twice with Jimini, and got our fill of Mexican food! YUMMO!!! I also spent a lot of time with my college roomie Natalie Wade Griffiths. She moved to Texas from Utah the week before I moved to Utah. Bad timing! We have kept in touch all of these years! She actually posted a picture of us in the pool! So much braver than I am! We are counting the days till next summer when we go again!
